About Aleida
Aleida van Poelgeest
A master of movement with over 20 years of experience, Aleida van Poelgeest is the owner of Full Circle Studio in the heart of Amsterdam’s cozy Jordaan neighborhood. She has lifetime of wisdom and regularly takes professional training courses to keep her skills sharp and completely up to date. With this wealth of knowledge, she is able to tailor all her Gyrotonic® sessions (both in small groups with max 4 people, or in one on one private training) to help her clients feel better and stronger each day.
She is caring but precise; finding the nuance in every movement and helping you move better and better each time. She loves helping crack the code on stubborn injuries or nagging pains, as well as helping athletes of all kinds fly higher and higher.
Gyrotonic classes are designed to take the body beyond its current limitations. People come out of a Gyrotonic class with increased freedom of movement, greater strength and more agility. Gyrotonic exercises are adapted to fit anyone’s ability, from those recovering from injury or living with a disability to elite athletes.
At Full Circle, Aleida utilizes Gyrotonic® Pulley Towers and a Jumping-Stretching Board as the cornerstones of her classes. The equipment is reminiscent of reformer pilates’ machines, but offers a greater range of motion with greater safety. The GYROTONIC® Method is at the heart of her work. Through circular, spiral and rhythmic movements, the joints are articulated, the muscles are strengthened, and at the same time length and space are created within the body. Breathing, coordination and fluid movement are an integral part of the practice.
What distinguishes Aleida is not only her many years of experience, but also her continuous commitment to deepening her knowledge and understanding of how the body moves and functions. She does not see movement as a fixed pattern, but looks at what each individual body needs at a particular moment. From this perspective, she works towards creating more space in the joints, improving coordination and finding a natural balance between strength and mobility.

The GYROTONIC® method, developed at the end of the 20th century on St. Thomas, draws inspiration from various sports disciplines such as yoga, tai chi, and swimming. This unique approach encourages the body to function as a whole, with all parts moving simultaneously.

From Trainer to Educator
"Over 25 years of experience in movement. Specialised in GYROTONIC® and in creating greater strength, space and freedom in the body.
Since 2020, Aleida has been a GYROTONIC® Pre-Trainer. This gives her a distinctive role within the GYROTONIC® community: alongside working with clients, she is qualified to teach part of the training pathway for people who wish to become GYROTONIC® Trainers.
The Pre-Training is the preparatory stage that students complete before entering the full GYROTONIC® Trainer training programme. Aleida's role as a Pre-Trainer reflects both her extensive experience and her passion for sharing knowledge and developing a deeper understanding of movement.
She continues to develop her expertise through international courses and advanced training in both GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®. Her areas of specialisation include GYROTONIC® principles in the context of osteopathy, the pelvic and shoulder girdles, scoliosis, the psoas, breathing and dynamic trunk stabilisation.
Aleida completed her Pilates training at the Pilates Institute in London, where she trained with, among others, Michael King. While Pilates forms an important part of her professional background, her focus today is entirely on the GYROTONIC® Method and GYROKINESIS®.
“My goal is not to force the body into a particular movement pattern, but to help people discover how much freedom, strength and space are possible within their own body.”
"At Full Circle Studio, the focus is therefore not on performance, but on developing a body that can move with strength, ease, coordination and freedom."
